Transpersonal Therapy
you are more than your diagnosis
Transpersonal therapy honors the reality that you are more than your diagnosis, your history, or your current circumstances. More than the story you've been told about yourself, or the one you've been telling. There's a whole person underneath all of that, and this is the work that goes there.
At Path of Purpose, my approach is whole-person and depth-oriented, honoring your mind, body, and everything in between. If you've been looking for a holistic therapist who takes your inner life seriously, including your values, your sense of meaning, and yes, your spirit, this is where that work lives.

What Transpersonal Therapy is
Transpersonal therapy brings a whole-person lens to the therapeutic process. Where conventional approaches often focus on what's broken and how to fix it, transpersonal work asks a different set of questions. What is this person's fullest potential? What deeper current is running beneath their symptoms? What would it mean for them to not just cope, but to genuinely become who they're capable of being?
This isn't spiritual bypassing or New Age positivity. It's rigorous, grounded, depth-oriented work that holds your inner life, your values, your sense of meaning, and your connection to something larger than your current circumstances as legitimate and important parts of the therapeutic conversation.
My goal isn't just to help you cope. It's to help you become who you're actually capable of being. That's the promise transpersonal therapy makes, and it's one I take seriously.
What Holistic Therapy Looks Like in Practice
Holistic therapy is a phrase that gets used loosely. In my practice it means something specific: I work with all of you. Not just your thoughts, not just your presenting problem, not just the part of you that fits neatly into a diagnostic category. Your body. Your values. Your relationships. Your sense of what matters and why. The parts of you that don't have words yet.
In Boulder, where holistic and integrative approaches to health are part of the culture, many of my clients arrive already oriented toward whole-person care. Transpersonal therapy meets that naturally. It's the therapeutic modality most aligned with the understanding that healing is not just the absence of symptoms. It's the presence of aliveness.
I integrate transpersonal work with somatic therapy, Gestalt, Existential therapy, EMDR, and the Enneagram, drawing from whichever approaches are most alive for you at a given moment. Nothing here is fixed. Everything follows you.
Where This Approach Comes From
My graduate training at Naropa University was specifically in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling. Naropa is one of the few universities in the country where transpersonal psychology is taught at a clinical level, grounded in contemplative tradition and rigorous academic training. It shaped not just what I know, but how I think about healing.
Naropa inspired me to slow down, stay curious, and trust that real change runs deeper than symptom management. That philosophy is the foundation of every session. I'm not here to move quickly through a protocol. I'm here to be genuinely present with you, and to help you find the thread that leads back to yourself.
What Happens When You're Finally Met in Your Fullness
Sessions are conversational, exploratory, and grounded. I'll be genuinely curious about your inner life, not just the events on the surface. We might explore what you actually believe about yourself and the world, where those beliefs came from, and whether they're still serving you. We might sit with a feeling that doesn't have a name yet. We might trace a pattern back to its roots.
I track not just what you're saying but how you're being as you say it. Your body is part of this conversation. So is your energy, your aliveness, the places where you light up or go quiet. These are information, and I pay attention to them.
This work can feel unfamiliar if you're used to more structured, symptom-focused therapy. Most people find it deeply settling over time, because they're finally being met in their fullness rather than reduced to a presenting problem.
Who I Work With
I work with adults for whom something essential is missing from conventional therapy. People who want to be met as a whole person, not just a presenting problem, and whose inner life, values, and sense of meaning are central to their healing rather than peripheral to it. Transpersonal therapy tends to draw those who are spiritually curious, philosophically oriented, or simply aware that what they're going through is asking something of them beyond symptom relief.
I've worked with artists, creatives, and people engaged in contemplative practice who need a therapeutic framework that can hold the full depth of their experience, and with adults in profound transition who are ready to explore not just what happened but who they're becoming. My practice is trauma-informed, justice-centered, sex-positive, shame-free, and proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming.
transpersonal Therapy
This might be right for you if...
You feel like something deeper is at the heart of your healing, not just your symptoms
You've tried conventional therapy and found it didn't reach far enough
Your spirituality, inner life, or sense of meaning matters to you and you want a therapist who takes that seriously
You sense there's a version of yourself you haven't fully inhabited yet
You're drawn to whole-person, integrative approaches to health and wellbeing
You're in a period of profound change and want support that honors the full weight of it
You're ready to explore not just what happened to you, but who you're becoming
You want therapy that goes beyond coping skills and toward genuine transformation
Training That Reflects the Same Values I Bring to Every Session
My transpersonal training comes from Naropa University, where I earned a Master's in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling in 2023. Beyond my degree, I hold certifications in EMDR (Maiberger Institute), Somatic Psychotherapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma, Integrative Gestalt Therapy, and Existential Psychotherapy, all through accredited training institutes.
In transpersonal work, that breadth matters. Whole-person healing requires the ability to move fluidly between approaches, and that's exactly what this training makes possible.

Transpersonal therapy brings a whole-person lens to the therapeutic process, one that includes your values, inner life, sense of meaning, and spirit alongside your psychology. Where conventional therapy often focuses on symptoms and diagnosis, transpersonal work asks what it would mean for you to become who you're actually capable of being. It's rigorous, grounded, and depth-oriented, not spiritual bypassing.

They overlap significantly. Holistic therapy is a broad term for any approach that works with the whole person rather than isolated symptoms. Transpersonal therapy is a specific clinical modality within that tradition, one that explicitly includes the inner life, meaning, and connection to something larger as part of the healing process. In my practice, transpersonal work is always whole-person and always integrative.

No. Transpersonal therapy doesn't require any particular belief system or spiritual practice. It simply creates space for your inner life, whatever form that takes, to be part of the conversation. Some clients come with an established contemplative practice. Others come with questions, or with a vague sense that something deeper matters, without knowing exactly what that is. All of it is welcome here.
